Name: Lorien (The common name for Irmo, the Vala who was master of dreams and visions. He also tended to the Gardens of Lórien. In Quenya, this name means "Land of Dreams".)

Personality: Lorien can get lost in his thoughts quite easily. The vast majority of the time he is alone, save for the occasional time spent with ents and mostly asleep trees. Every so often he'd visit the towns of Rohan to trade, and also to learn as much as he could about social interaction. He's a quick learner with most things, but not all. He has a levity about him that is almost required to live in an angry place like Fangorn alone and not go insane. Although he does have his worries and concerns as well, which he attempts to hide from anyone else. He has a sense of right and wrong, a virtue that his mother instilled in him, and also a drive to constantly improve himself. The mantra his mother gave him throughout the time she was with him was, "Practice that which you are good at, and that which you are not." It was her way of saying to do his best to prepare himself for anything.

Brief History:   Before Lorien was born, his mother Elenna, a dunedain women, worked in the kitchens in Minas Tirith during the short rein of Arathorn. Though Arathorn was devoted to his wife, a drunken night and several mistakes later ended in a short lived passionate exchange between Elenna and Arathorn. Both found it best to never speak of the incident. That was until Elenna became pregnant.

When Lorien was born, Arathorn’s wife was already expecting a child, and Elenna had no wish to ruin a happy marriage, nor smear the name of her King. She aimed to leave Gondor and raise her child on her own, but before she left Arathorn insisted that she’d take a few things with her. A newly made sword of Gondor for when the boy came of age, engraved with Arathorn’s crest. Also a sealed letter signed by Arathorn, admitting that Lorien was his first born son, even though out of wedlock. Arathorn made Elenna promise she would tell Lorien who his true father was once he was old enough. Elenna agreed, but never got the chance to.

Elenna took Lorien to Fangorn forrest, where the Ents gave her permission for them to reside. They helped her create a crude but effected shelter for her to raise her child. When Lorien was 10 years old he began practicing with the sword that was a gift from his father. Although the sword was much to big for him at that age, his mother insisted that he become familiar with it. When he was 15 his mother became deathly ill, and passed away. Lorien left the small shack they shared together, and lived on his own within Fangorn.

Orcs would occasionally make their way into the forrest, cutting wood when it suited them. They were good practice. After awhile he outmatched their individual sword skill easily, and he began taking two, three, and then four on at a time. After years of practice even that became easy. Occasionally Lorien would make his way into Rohan to trade furs for leather armor and gear. He also purchased a Rohanian bow and arrows, which he practiced with but wasn’t very good at. Some called him a ranger, but although he was good and reading and living off the land, he never assumed that title himself.

He had a distrust of other humans, who more than once stole his coin pouches when he visited the towns and villages. But he would notice couples smiling and enjoying each other’s affection, and he always wondered what that was like. Besides other men, orcs, and ents, he knew of no other sentient races first hand. He had heard of dwarves and elves, but has never met a member of either species.
